Ladies and Gentleman, may I present to you, The Roman Art Colosseum Hot Tub. The first in a new series called The Italian Collection. Part art, part functional object – art and design living in an Italian inspired harmony. La dolce vita!
I’ll be honest. I’m not a big fan of hot tubs.
But, I would definitely get in this one. Here’s my original sketch from several years ago (it’s obvious I’m a concept person).
But it’s all in the idea, right? If I won the lottery, I would spend every Lira (I know it’s Euro) on making this thing a reality. Wouldn’t you? Il mattino ha l’oro in bocca.
It’s a simple and beautiful piece – perfect for those fond of Roman Architecture, Jersey Shore, Roman Empire Reenactors (they have those, right?), bachelors, billionaires and Serie A soccer players. One day my Italian dreams will come true and this hot tub will be a reality. Campa cavallo!
As always, many thanks to Michele Jasper for the renderings. She makes me look talented (I mean, look at my sketch).
Grazie mille!

This is just awesome. The renderings are great – I’m ready to buy one. Once I build my empire, that is.

Really friggin’ cool. I’d LOVE to have one. But you know, it’s actually a lot easier to make than you would think. I’ll bet a talented production designer could build the fascia. You’d need a way to print out the pieces – quite easy given that they completely wrap cars and busses in photographs these days – then a way to water proof them. I think the toughest thing would be finding a hot tub that is the correct proportions, but even if the proportions weren’t that perfect, you could easily use the fascia to tweak them. Cool idea. Now, the challenge for you is to follow through….and actually build it.
