Gen Con Indy is the original, longest running, best attended, gaming convention in the world. For over 44 years, Gen Con Indy has been setting the trend and breaking records. Last year, more than 120,103 turnstile and 36,106 unique attendees experienced Gen Con Indy. The biggest complaint we hear is that there is simply too much to do, see, and experience. Get lost in a phantasm of art exhibits. Stare at jaw-dropping costumes, or better yet, wear one of your own.

This was my fourth year attending. I attend because I enjoy the spectacle. The creativity. The community. And the atmosphere. BTW, here are all my images from 4 years.

I attend because you never know what you’ll encounter around the next corner.

It’s a feast for the senses. And if you happen to be a big Star Wars fans, it does not disappoint.

I also attend out of respect. I respect the culture. I respect the passion. And I respect the fact that people are following their passions. And perhaps most importantly, expressing their own individuality.

It’s also become a tradition for me, one that began in 2007. This year I took my family, Lea and Oliver. We walked around with smiles and in awe. Oliver enjoyed Klingon music. He pointed at intricate wears. And in what must have seemed an improbable miracle to him, he met Spider-Man.

It’s one of the best events I’ve seen in Indianapolis. Next Gen Con will mark the 5th year. Maybe the Incandela family will dress up?
